OUR PROGRAMS
PROGRAM ENROLLMENT PROCESS
All prospective applicants must:
- Complete an in-person interview, tour the training facility, and program policy briefing with a representative of AMI-SD.
- Be at least 18 years of age and be a High School graduate or hold a GED.
- Be English proficient at a level sufficient to understand instructors, complete the program, and adhere to safety standards.
MANUFACTURING ACADEMY
The Manufacturing Academy is a no-cost, 17-week accelerated training program for individuals with no prior experience who want to start a career in advanced manufacturing. As a pre-employment program, it aims to give participants a solid foundation in technical skills and workplace competencies that meet industry standards.
Upon completion, graduates receive:
- Certificate of Achievement,
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Educational Overview Certificate
The program features hands-on machine training, classroom instruction, and personal development services. The curriculum covers technical math, machine theory, blueprint reading, quality control, shop safety, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
Participants are connected with potential employers and receive career coaching, job placement assistance, and support to address barriers to employment. The program also includes modules on professional development, interpersonal skills, and resume optimization.
Since 2014, the Manufacturing Academy has served more than 17 cohorts and over 300 participants, with a 90% job placement rate.

All cohorts run Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-12:00 pm
REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP
AMI-SD is a U.S. Department of Labor-recognized Registered Apprenticeship Program Sponsor (Program #2025-CA-133259)
Launched in 2025, this competency-based program is designed for apprentices seeking to advance their careers as professional CNC Machine Operators (O*Net Code: 51-4035) or Quality Control Inspectors (O*Net Code: 51-9061).
The program takes Apprentices from low-skilled,entry-level roles to full advanced occupational proficiency within 1-2 years. Each apprentice is sponsored by an employer and is paid on a progressive wage schedule starting between $20 to $25 per hour.
Upon completion, the apprentice will receive a “Completion of Registered Apprenticeship” certificate — a nationally recognized industry credential.
Ideal candidates for Apprenticeship:
- Are mechanically inclined and capable of working independently.
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Have a stable work history.
- Complete a pre-employment skills test.
Total Hours of Related Training Instructions (RTI) - 340 hours
- In-house training
- Safety, Match Concepts, Blueprint Reading, and Machining Fundamentals
On-the-Job Training (OJT) - Competency-Based
- 1- or 2-year program
- 40 hours a week for 104 weeks.
