Advanced Manufacturing Institute San Diego (AMI-SD) is a nonprofit organization that provides vocational training, technical skill development, and job placement support to unemployed and underemployed residents of San Diego County seeking careers in advanced manufacturing.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, we serve the community by addressing two key issues:
- The shortage of skilled labor in advanced manufacturing, and
- Improving equitable access to high-paying, in-demand jobs available in the industry.
Since our inception in 2014, more than 200 individuals have received training through 16 cohorts, with a 90% job placement rate in roles such as CNC Machine Operator, Machinist, and Quality Control Inspector. We partner with local employers to ensure that training aligns with industry needs, helping businesses fill critical skill gaps and remain competitive.
Our programs are tuition-free for participants. Upon completion, graduates earn competitive wages, contributing to economic mobility and reducing unemployment in East County and greater San Diego.
