The Advanced Manufacturing Institute San Diego (AMI-SD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a skilled and diverse talent pipeline to support the region’s vital advanced manufacturing sector while strengthening the broader community. 

AMI-SD fulfills its mission by offering post-secondary vocational training, technical skill development, and job placement assistance to unemployed and underemployed individuals seeking careers in advanced manufacturing within San Diego County. 

Since 2014, AMI-SD has had a significant impact on the community by addressing two key issues: the skilled labor shortage in advanced manufacturing and the need for equitable access to high-paying, in-demand jobs in this field. 

To date, AMI-SD has provided direct training to 16 cohorts, with over 200 enrolled participants, and has achieved an 90% job placement rate for program graduates in entry-level positions, including Machinists, CNC Machine Operators, and Quality Control Inspectors.
