As an advanced manufacturing and technical skills development organization, AMI-SD serves San Diego County by providing inclusive access to technical training opportunities. We also help industry employers recruit and develop a steady pipeline of skilled workers for the region's manufacturers, addressing critical workforce needs.
Our recruitment efforts aim to ensure equitable access to career pathways in advanced manufacturing for underserved populations, including Black, Latinx, women, justice-involved individuals, veterans, the unemployed, and the underemployed.
AMI-SD offers an in-person program. Manufacturing is a hands-on industry, and our training requires participants to engage in in-person lessons. Our programs are dedicated to preparing students for a career in manufacturing, where graduates will work in an in-person environment.

Advanced manufacturing is the use of innovative technologies in the production of material goods, relying on the coordination of information, automation, computation, software, and networking. It involves new and cutting-edge manufacturing processes for existing products, as well as the production of new products from new technologies. . On average, a career in manufacturing pays more than $84,000 a year in salary and benefits. It is a secure career path with numerous opportunities for growth and advancement.
Cohort #14: February 3, 2025 – May 30, 2025
Cohort #15: June 30, 2025 – October 31, 2025
The program is in-person, 17 weeks in length, Mondays-Fridays from 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m., approximately 350 hours total. The training facility is hosted at Quality Controlled Manufacturing Inc. (QCMI) located at 9429 Abraham Way, Santee, CA 92071. Both classroom lectures and shop labs give students a hands-on learning experience with their combination of time spent both in the classroom and in the shop. Yes. AMI-SD offers job placement assistance with advanced manufacturing companies throughout San Diego County. We will also assist with resume and interview preparation, soft-skills development, and visits to local companies' facilities to meet with hiring managers.
