Advanced Manufacturing Institute San Diego (AMI-SD) is a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the region's advanced manufacturing and defense industries by building a skilled workforce and helping employers develop a sustainable talent pipeline. Using real-world manufacturing knowledge and hands-on learning methods, we offer tuition-free vocational training, skills development, and job placement assistance to San Diego County residents to launch careers in advanced manufacturing. We help prepare individuals to become productive, employment-ready in as little as 17 weeks for roles such as operating machinery, reading blueprints, programming, and using precision tools.
Our programs and services are ideal for people who are:
- unemployed, underemployed, or career-shifting individuals;
- actively seeking entry-level and mid-level precision-machining roles within the advanced manufacturing sector; and
- prefer accelerated, hands-on, real-world, direct training in a positive, professional, and supportive environment
